KIMCHILICIOUS says goodbye..for now

Dear readers,

there..there.. I’ve written my final 2 entries for the blog.

KIMCHILCIOUS has decided to go on a H-I-A-T-U-S.

This is because I need to concentrate on my studies, brush up on my Korean, and I realised I’ve missed out on many things in life just by dedicating 24 hours of my time to the blog. I’ve put in way too much effort in here. Furthermore, the updates on korean entertainment news is too overwhelming that I can’t handle it alone as I’m the only translator on this blog.

I’ve been toying about the idea on going on a hiatus for quite some time already. I initially started blogging because I wanted to keep my little cousin updated on news of her favourite idols, but then the blog became really popular and I felt the pressure to have to deliver more interesting stuff to the readers everyday.

This blog is like my baby, and it breaks my heart that I’ll have to put a hold on blogging..but I know I can’t continue providing you readers with accurate news  and updates if I don’t improve my Korean or have the time to do so.

There are many blogs out there that I love and you can get your drama, kpop, fashion updates from them: Kbites , POPSEOUL, K-popped, KPculture, Dramabeans,Babelpop. I had really hoped for a collaboration with one of the fellow bloggers from Singapore, but it seemed like things didn’t go as planned. sigh…

 Thanks for supporting KIMCHILICIOUS so far. I really appreciate all the comments I’ve received from you guys! I’ll continue to love kpop as well as everything about the Korean entertainment industry and I hope you do too..

Especially I want to thank Kimt08, M.Chonza and Putri for contributing to the blog, and also loyal readers like abirose, sujulove, ilovedongahe, Dilys, Lily, etc..(sorry if I missed out anyone)

I’ll be back in 2010, just like Super Junior’s 4th album=) Don’t ask me why 2010..haha, I know 1 year is a long time, but you guys will wait right?

Everyone hops onto the girlgroup wagon

It isn’t funny when girls dress up as guys, but it’s a whole new story when guys dress up as girls..as can be seen in the kpop world. It has been a common affair seeing  Korean boyband members dressing up as girls and in fact unlike countries in the West. there is nothing to be ashamed of.

Who can forget the popular collaborations like Wonder Boys and Boys’ Generation?

So haters who actually label them as gays are the REAL ones that aren’t secure in their own sexual orientation..I’m all for cross-dressing, it keeps me entertained and is a hell load of FUN!!

Super Junior is FAMOUS for cross-dressing on every occasion, especially when they have members who look prettier than us girls (note: KIM HEE CHUL).  But what about “manly” groups like SS501 and 2PM? What will you think if they end up as girls too?

So Nyeo Shi Dae hits the jackpot, 3rd consecutive 100K in album sales

On July 29th, it was announced that So Nyeo Shi Dae’s 2nd mini album Tell Me Your wish had sold a total of 100, 497 albums 1 month after its release, making them the Queen of album sales.

Following the success of their first mini album “Gee” and 1st album “Girls Generation” , they have managed to surpass the 100K mark in sales for all 3 of their albums, which is an unprecendented record in korean pop history, showing their immense popularity and power in the industry.

In addition, So Nyeo Shi Dae has also won top awards in music programmes consecutively with their 6 songs: “Into the New World”, “Girls’ Generation”, ‘Kissing You’, ‘Baby Baby’, ‘Gee’ and ‘Tell me your wish” .

“Heading to the Ground” cast finishes their first script-reading practice

The pre-shoot practice for MBC new drama “Heading to the Ground” has begun.

On 25th July at Ilsan Dream Center, the director, script writer, producer as well as actors involved, Jung Yun Ho and Go Ara gathered together to read through the script.

As soon as script reading was completed, Yunho flew back to Japan immediately. The crew complimented Yunho for his passion and attitude, as well as expressing the character of his role well.

PD Park Sung-soo said after the practice, “We could feel the heartfelt sincerity of everyone during the script practice today. The crew and actor communicated well and I could see the characters developing.”

“Heading to the Ground” will air on September 9th.

8eight to have a special stage on Mnet M!Countdown

3 memmber co-ed group 8eight will be having a special stage.

On July 30th at Mnet M!Countdown, they will perform a medley of their hit songs including “Goodby My Love” and “Without a heart”.

A new version of one of their songs will also be released on August 4th.

8eight’s leader Lee Hyun said, ”We’ll end 8eight’s activities with a bang this year, by performing 3 of our hit songs. We’ll be back with more exciting music in 2010.”

4Minute as models for Shoemarker

4Minute has been picked as the models for shoe brand “Shoemarker”

A representative from Shoemarker said, “It was difficult to find a model that could best represent out brand, but since 4Minute has a trendy image and is a hit among the youth, we’ve decided that they’re the best choice to model our shoes.”

Meanwhile, 4Minute is currently promoting their hit song “Hot Issue”.

T-ara JiYeon, “I was scolded because of the nickname Little Kim Tae Hee”

On 29th July, T-ara made their debut on MBC Golden Fishery Radio Star , and member JiYeon made a surprising confession, “Because I was given the nickname ‘little Kim TaeHee’, I was being scolded many times. It is hard to express what they said to me in 1 sentence”

JiYeon was the first member of the group to appear in public when she sang the song “Women’s Generation” with SeeYa and Davichi.

Meanwhile, T-ara will have their debut stage from 30th July onwards at Mnet M!Countdown, Music Bank, Music Core and SBS Inkigayo.

Brown Eyed Girls tops music charts a week into their comeback

After their comeback stage 4 days ago, the Brown Eyed Girls has attained No.1 on Internet Music charts.

From July 29th-30th, they were number one on 4 music charts–  Cyworld, Dosirak, Mnet and Soribada.

It is a remarkable achievement since they had only just come back with a new album Sound. G launched on July 21st. They have managed to push 2NE1 down to 2nd position.

The members of Brown Eyed Girls are also in the top 3 positions for the most searched terms on Naver. Their controversial music video helped boost the popularity and interest in the girls.
